CareerXroads® Colloquium - Summer 2010 Event

Dates: August 10-11
Location: Toronto hosted at RIM (Blackberry)

Discussion Topics

Our lead topic for this Colloquium will be Social Networks and Assessments. Policies, practices, strategies, good and not-so-good suppliers and partners, results and next evolution are all fodder for this meeting. Specific discussion topics are:

  • Seeking More Transparency: We want to explore whether your latest initiatives really leverage tools to evolve a more transparent, community-based staffing strategy or are they just another layer on an old version of the employer-job seeker dance?
  • Case Study Sharing: Every attendee is requested to share a five minute case study for some aspect of a social network campaign (challenge, action, result) whether it be SEM (Search Engine Marketing), SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Widgets, Yahoo Groups, Crowdsourcing or some other social media initiative.
  • Scenarios: Some of the scenarios we'll challenge you to face and share include How do you screen candidates; How do you select finalists; How do new hires choose you; and, How do you use any of the previous to improve your assessment strategy.
  • Real-life Policies & Results: Bring your policies and results, your challenges and experiments. If you are interested in informally presenting a few key slides to get the opinion of your fellow members, let us know and we'll work it in.
  • Legal Aspects of Social Networks: An attorney experienced in this area of the law will be joining us to discuss legal issues surrounding social networks. Please come prepared with your questions.

As is our practice at CareerXroads Colloquium events we ask all attendees to bring “what keeps them up at night” in their recruiting organizations so we can help each other solve those issues. After all, it's the caliber of our group that makes each session unique and provides that Aha! moment you'll take back to your office.
