CareerXroads® Colloquium - Winter 2009 Event

Dates: March 17-18
Location: Atlanta at the American Cancer Society

Discussion Topics

Our lead topic for this Colloquium will be International & Diversity Recruiting: Challenges to Developing an International Integrated Recruiting Strategy; Reinventing Diversity Recruiting; and Building an Internal Environment That Matches Your Employee Value Proposition.

We are also pleased to announce a special guest speaker for this meeting. Friend of CareerXroads, Nina Woodard, will help deepen our discussion of International issues. Nina has just returned from several years in India that included a stint opening the offices of SHRM in Mumbai. India is one stop in her amazing career that also includes direct working experience in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and the UAE as well as the US. Nina grew up in Wyoming and the West coast and worked in executive HR and M&A positions in several banks.

Additional discussion topics as voted on by members include:

  1. How do you contrast your US-centric Employee Value Proposition in Asia, Europe, etc? Are there common elements to your EVP across all cultures e.g. Sustainability, Diversity? How does your firm's commitment to diversity read in India, China, the Middle East, etc?
  2. Have other countries really leapfrogged the US in communications technology? How have your processes in other countries adapted to preferences for phone, text messaging, spam, etc.?
  3. Hiring over here for there and over there for here. Do your international recruiting efforts attempt to target US students or professionals living abroad for positions at home and vice versa?
  4. What are the three biggest challenges you've faced in opening up recruiting in a country for the first time and what did you do?
  5. How will the changing political and financial climate impact diversity initiatives? What will you do more, less and the same?
  6. What are your top technology sites/resources for diversity and international recruiting?
  7. What is your use of internal and external social networks in recruiting - particularly with regard to diversity and international pipelines?
  8. How do you minimize your recruiting and diversity silos from clashing? Who is your firm's "diversity champion?"
  9. Corporate Job Pages - Focus on diversity and Int'l Who really get's it?

As is our practice at CareerXroads Colloquium events we ask all attendees to bring “what keeps them up at night” in their recruiting organizations so we can help each other solve those issues. After all, it's the caliber of our group that makes each session unique and provides that Aha! moment you'll take back to your office.

The CareerXroads® Colloquium is different from other industry networking groups. This is a group of corporate recruiters from some of the largest companies in the world, who really "get it" when it comes to high volume recruiting, staffing technology and cutting-edge recruiting. It is a group that shares what's working, what's challenging and what's around the corner. Think you've got what it takes? Start with a meeting and you'll be hooked.
